Parranda (English: party or spree) is a Puerto Rican music tradition that takes place in Puerto Rico during the Christmas holiday season. Parrandas are social events that feature traditional Puerto Rican music, food, and drinks. At Alliance, we celebrated the Puerto Rican culture in our community by having a Parranda Holiday Family Event of our own on January 3rd, 2020. Light food and refreshments were served, and musical talent Eddie Rivera was present to play music for parents and children.
Although typical Parrandas are had at night and well into the wee hours of the morning, we sang and celebrated between the hours of 5 pm and 6:30. Parents and children of Alliance were more than pleased with the turnout and look forward to next year’s Three King’s Holiday to hold our next Parranda. Check out our photos below!
