Over 600, 40 lb. boxes of food were distributed to residents at P.T. Barnum Apartments by the organization PT Partners on July 15th, 2020. These “Bridgeport Blessing Boxes” to local community members were donated to the PT Partners organization by Alliance for Community Empowerment. We are a proud donor to PT Partners and support their mission to move forward a resident-owned initiative of self-determination. With the amount of food given to the organization, PT Partners was also able to successfully distribute food to two other locations in Bridgeport. These locations included Trumbull Gardens, and the Charles F. Greene Homes.

PT Partners CO Secretary Evelyn Medina was very thankful for the contribution by Alliance. “We are all very thankful at PT Partners for the contribution by Alliance. The event turned out extremely well at all the locations and the residents were very happy. To anyone who had a car or could manage to carry two boxes, we gave them two. Everyone was surprised as they weren’t expecting that and they left happier than they arrived.” By no surprise, PT Partners conducted a wonderful event at each location controlling the crowds by practicing social distancing and ensuring everyone wore a mask. Alliance is proud to have donated to such a wonderful organization that thrives to improve the lives of not only their own community members, but others in adjacent housing complexes in Bridgeport.

About PT Partners: The purpose of PT Partners is to move forward a resident-owned initiative of self-determination. Residents of a 360-unit low-income public housing (LIPH) apartment in Bridgeport CT work to organize within their community to address systemic issues of oppression, which include environmental racism, poor education systems and structures, an unresponsive housing authority, and community disunity. Residents, staff, and community partners work towards community re-creation.
