Wednesday, February 14, 2024 – Westport, CT – Alliance for Community Empowerment’s 4th Annual Love Our Community Event took place on February 9, 2023 at the Inn at Longshore in Westport, CT. In attendance was the first Selectwoman of Westport, Jennifer Tooker, the Mayor of Bridgeport, Joe Ganim, and many more community partners of Alliance.

The sold-out event featured a red carpet experience, four-course dinner, raffle, silent auction, dancing to the sounds of The Rahsaan Langley Project, and a video presentation, all to support the important work Alliance for Community Empowerment does serving those in Fairfield County. Over 250 guests came dressed up to support the cause and have a good time.

As guests entered the venue, they were greeted by Dr. Monette Ferguson, Executive Director of Alliance for Community Empowerment. After checking in, guests walked into a red carpet experience with a photographer capturing everyone’s stunning cocktail attire. Then visitors entered the grand ballroom for drinks and appetizers while socializing with others. An adjacent room was full of amazing auction prizes, a photo booth, a 360-video booth, and a “Wheel of Empowerment” to win Alliance-themed merchandise.

This year’s Love Event was extra special to celebrate Alliance for Community Empowerment’s 60th Anniversary. Attention was turned to the screens around the room to watch a video showcasing the economic struggles of the country and the city of Bridgeport in 1964 that led to the creation of ABCD, Inc., a community action agency, now known as Alliance for Community Empowerment. The video is a teaser of a larger documentary to be released later this year about the history of Alliance for Community Empowerment and the people the agency has helped throughout its sixty years.

Rahsaan Langley, of the The Rahsaan Langley Project, also a CT based artist and producer for some of the biggest names in R&B and Hip-Hop, performed throughout the night while also adding fun quips as emcee and hyping up the attendees for an amazing time.
