The Summer / Fall Programs are now in person. Our Summer program runs from 7/5 - 8/5/2022. Our Fall program runs from 8/29/22 - 6/2/23. We also operate after school programs at Bassick and Central High Schools. They are operating this Summer from 7/8 - 8/5/22, Fridays, 6-10 pm.
About Lighthouse
Students are given a light supper. The Lighthouse Program assists students with homework (45 minutes mandatory) and offers a variety of activities for the children including: Arts & Crafts, Soccer, Chess, and Dance/Music. Other activities include Tennis Training which culminates with a Tennis Tournament, under the direction of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Lacrosse, Ice Skating (Wonderland of Ice), Swimming and Family Literacy Nights.
During Family Literacy Nights activities include Spelling Bees, “Turkey Bingo” (turkeys, plants and candy bars are given as prizes), Line Dancing, Father and Daughter dances, Mother and Son dances, Emergency Care Classes, and International Night, where the children dance and sing for their parents. Each Family Literacy Night ends with a hearty meal for the families, accompanied with music … such a wonderful way to end the night.
Applications can be obtained online and at each site (see list below). Please bring a copy of your latest income tax return (1040) listing dependent child/children and a $25 non-refundable deposit (bank check or money orders accepted). NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS PLEASE.

What lighthouse programs does Alliance operate?
Bassick High School, Central High School, Blackham, Black Rock, Cesar Batalla, Curiale, Discovery, Geraldine Johnson, Hallen, Jettie S. Tisdale, John Winthrop and Roosevelt schools.
What are the dates and hours of operation for the after school program?
The program begins on the first full day of school and ends on the first Friday in June. Hours of operation – starts at end of school day (2:30 or 3:15 pm – varies at each school) and ends at 5:30 pm, unless signed up for 6 pm late pickup at an additional cost.
What is the cost?
Fee is based on family size/income. A late fee of $5 is charged for every 15 minutes beyond pickup time.
Is transportation provided?
No, it is parent’s responsibility to get child to a different program, if they don’t want child to remain in the after school program offered at their day school.
Do children get an opportunity to do their homework?
There is a 45-minute mandated homework session on their schedule, however, student is not required to complete homework assignments.
